Behali Degree College, affiliated to Gauhati University was established in 1989 by some enthusiastic and active citizens of Behali. In a recent notification dated 10/02/2024, Govt. of Assam Higher Education Department listed Behali Degree College to Madhabdev University. It now stands as a premier institute in the Biswanath district. The college is proud of its alumni who have carved their names in various educational and professional fields.
With the establishment of Science stream in 2020, the college now has number of highly qualified faculty members who are catering to over a thousand students. The college strongly believes the new students will be highly benefitted by its teaching staff. An active mentor-mentee system in which the students are attached to one faculty who acts as their mentor is used by the college for personal care of the students. The college also has dedicated non-teaching staff to efficiently carry out their respective works.
The college has a new building with well-furnished classrooms facilities. To enrich the students with appropriate support, a new library building under the aegis of Mr. Ranjit Dutta, MLA, Behali has been constructed. The college library provides facilities like textbooks, reference books, journals, and periodicals etc. The college is a member of N-List Care, an initiative of MHRD, with access to millions of e-resources that would provide conductive study materials in online mode. The college also provides support to students interested to use SWAYAM, an E learning platform initiated by MHRD, Govt. of India.
The NCC and NSS units of the college are highly active to facilitate interested students in engaging activities throughout the year.
In addition, Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University (KKHSOU) and Gauhati University Centre for Distance and Online Education (GUCDOE) are also available.
